Parts Sales Rise 17% in April

U.S. OPE dealerships saw a 17-percent increase in parts sales in April 2021 compared to April 2020, according to data collected exclusively for OPE Business readers by Constellation Data Solutions.

The Northeast region outperformed the rest of the country, with Northeast dealerships reporting a 41-percent increase in parts sales.

Other U.S. regions:

• Dealers in the West region experienced 29-percent growth in parts sales; in April 2021 vs. April 2020;
• Midwest dealers reported a 12-percent growth in parts sales; and
• Dealers in the South showed 8-percent growth in parts sales.

Canadian dealers reported a 7-percent growth in their parts sales for April 2021 versus April 2020, according to Constellation.

All regions indicated that parts sales were up in April 2021 versus April 2020 – 66 percent of all U.S. dealers indicating this, while 76 percent of all Canadian dealers indicated parts sales were up.

By region, the Northeast again led the way – 78 percent of dealers indicated parts sales were up in April. Other regions: South 64 percent; Midwest 63 percent; West 65 percent.

States in each region are as follows:

Midwest: Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin

Northeast: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont

South: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington DC

West: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming

Pulling from 1,260 OPE dealerships that use Constellation’s Ideal and c-Systems and Charter DMS products, the composite data compares same store sales stats from April 2021 versus April 2020.
