Segway Enters Robotic Mower Market with Navimow

Segway, the manufacturer of personal transportation devices and transportation robotics, has now entered the robotic lawn mower space with the introduction of its Navimow robotic mower.

The Navimow features EFLS (Exact Fusion Locating System), a satellite-based (GPS) positioning system; as a result, there’s no need for physical wiring boundaries, the company reports. In its YouTube demonstration of the Navimow, Segway shows how users need only map out their property boundary one time, add “off-limit” spaces, and then simply click “mow.”

According to the company’s website, the Navimow is available in four models (recommended cutting sizes): 500m2 (5,382 sq. ft.), 800m2 (8,611 sq. ft.), 1,500m2 (16,146 sq. ft.) and 3,000m2 (32,292 sq. ft.). Navimow features include:

  • Cutting height: 30-60mm (1.18-2.36 inches);
  • Cutting width: 210mm (8.3 inches);
  • Max. slope: 45%;
  • Noise emission: 54 dB;
  • IPX6 water-resistance rating (IPX5 for charging station);
  • Multiple built-in sensors, including a blade-halt sensor;
  • GPS anti-theft (on three largest sizes); and
  • A three-button interface to simplify operation.

Prices range from 1,199 euros ($1,422 U.S.) to 2,499 euros ($2,965 U.S.). The Navimow will be available in the spring of 2022.

“Navimow is our first entry into the lawncare industry, but it will not be our last,” says Ryan Kong, sales manager for Segway Robotics.
