Significant December 2020 increases in overall dealership sales

U.S. OPE dealerships saw significant increases in overall dealership sales in December, according to data from Constellation Data Solutions, a division of Constellation Dealership Group, collected exclusively for OPE Business magazine readers. When compared to December 2019, Same Store Sales results show a 29% increase in December 2020 overall dealership sales.

Pulling from 1,222 OPE dealerships that use Constellation’s Ideal and c-Systems and Charter DMS products, this composite data compares Same Store Sales stats from December 2019 versus December 2020.

Overall, U.S. dealerships saw a 29% increase in overall sales, but the Northeast outperformed the rest of the country considerably, with Northeast dealerships reporting a 41% increase in total sales. Midwest dealers were on the lower end of the spectrum with a smaller, yet still impressive, 25% increase in total dealership sales for December 2020. Western dealers and Southern dealers saw a 25% and 26% increase, respectively.

To our north, Canadian dealers also enjoyed stellar December 2020 sales numbers, seeing a 33% increase in total dealership sales.

Percentage breakdowns of December 2020 vs. December 2019 dealership increases in overall sales were as follows:

Midwest: 25%

Northeast: 41%

South: 26%
