October 2021: Overall Sales Show Slight Dip, Northeast and Midwest are Positives

In October 2021, OPE dealers saw a 1-percent dip in overall sales vs. October 2020, according to the latest numbers provided by Constellation Data Solutions. The Northeast and Midwest regions reported positive numbers overall for their dealerships.

Overall dealership sales in the U.S., region by region:

• Northeast: 12-percent increase in overall sales in October 2021 vs. October 2020; this is the fourth consecutive month that Northeast dealers have reported positive overall sales for their dealerships.
• Midwest: 2-percent increase in overall sales this period;
• South: 5-percent decrease in overall sales;
• West: 10-percent decrease in overall sales.

Canadian dealers reported an 18-percent decrease in overall sales in October 2021 vs. October 2020.

Service sales were again strong in October, up 22 percent across the U.S. and up 16 percent in Canada). The Midwest region led the way – up 42 percent this month vs. 2020.

Parts sales were down 3 percent in the U.S. overall in October vs. this same time last year. Canada also reported a decrease in parts sales (down 18 percent).

Wholegoods sales were down 1 percent overall in the U.S. in October, although the Northeast region reported an 18-percent increase. Canada showed a 19-percent decrease in wholegoods sales for this period vs. last year.
