Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Bourbon 2018

Angel’s Envy has announced the details for the 2018 Angel’s Envy Cask Strength Bourbon Finished in Port Barrels.

Each year Angel’s Envy releases a seven-year-old cask-strength bourbon. In the past these have become highly collected, and resold on the secondary market. The selected barrels of bourbon for this release are blended and then finished in Portuguese port wine casks.

Aromas for Angel’s Envy Cask Strength this year include banana, honey and light burnt wood, the company reports, followed by flavors of caramel, sweet raisins, cola and herbal notes. The finish is dark chocolate, heavy toasted oak and fresh figs.

“We started this tradition with our first Cask Strength release in 2012 and are proud of this year’s bourbon-forward release,” says Wes Henderson, co-founder and chief innovation officer of Angel’s Envy. “Every 100 barrels or so, we find one that truly stands out. We’re always looking for those special barrels to put through our extended finishing process.”

This year’s expression is now available in select markets: AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MD, MA, MI, MN, MO, NJ, NV, NH, NY, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, WA and Washington D.C.

The suggested retail price for a 750-ml bottle, which may vary by market, is $199.99.

The proof varies annually based on the barrels selected. The 2018 release is 124-proof, or 62% ABV.
