The global drinks brands Patrón and Fever-Tree have joined forces for a new product: Fever-Tree Citrus Tonic.

This mixer launched this month in bar and restaurant venues worldwide, select specialty retailers and on ReserveBar.

A balance of citrus — including Mexican limes — tangerines and bitter orange, Fever-Tree Citrus Tonic has been crafted to pair with Patrón Tequila, the companies say, as well as large range of mixed drinks.

“We are seeing a massive revival of simple, long mixed drinks, both among professional bartenders and home enthusiasts,” says Amanda Stackman, Fever-Tree marketing director, USA. “Naturally, gin is the most popular pairing for our tonic. That said, our premium mixers can be enjoyed across many categories of spirits. What is brand new and unprecedented here is this highly-customized collaboration.”

To find fruit for the mix, Fever-Tree traveled to Colima and Michoacán to source the “ideal Key limes and Tahitian limes,” the company says, before heading to Veracruz for tangerines. Then it was on to Yucatán for bitter orange to pair with Fever-Tree’s signature quinine.

The goal was to create a balance for the sweet citrus, peppery notes of Patrón Tequila.

The suggested retail price for Fever-Tree Citrus Tonic $5.99 per 200-ml. 4-pack and $3.99 per 500-ml.
