John Ray & Sons Celebrates National Apprenticeship Week

Generation NEXT Energy Pros and John Ray & Sons of Troy, N.Y., took part in an event to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week at Questar III BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) in Castleton-on-Hudson, N.Y.

Questar III’s new apprenticeship program offers students both job “shadowing” and paid work experiences with energy professionals at participating oil and propane companies in the Capital Region, including John Ray & Sons.

“The future of our industry’s workforce depends on programs like this. This industry needs to recruit the next generation of employees, and what better place to start than trade schools like Questar III BOCES,” Mike LaPorte of John Ray & Sons said at the Nov. 10 event. “We are truly grateful to Generation NEXT Energy Pros for helping facilitate the relationship between our company and Questar III BOCES. We look forward to building successful and long-lasting relationships with both of these programs. It’s critical to the survival of our industry.”

Established in 2017, Generation NEXT Energy Pros was created as a tool to connect trade school students, driving school students, and adult learners with local oil and propane companies.
