Pro Motocross Championship announces Specialized Bicycles partnership for 2021 season

MX Sports Pro Racing has announced the addition of the newest corporate partner of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing. Specialized Bicycle Components, will serve as the Official Electric Bike for the racing series during the 2021 season, highlighting its Turbo “eMTB” model lineup.

Through its partnership, the company will have a prominent presence at each round of the championship, offering education surrounding the rapid growth of electric bicycles and demo rides of its Turbo eMTB products.

“Specialized is proud and excited to partner with Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in 2021,” said Saul Leiken, leader of Specialized’s e-bike program, in the announcement. “We’ve been working with pro-level moto athletes for the better part of two decades. Trainers and racers, like Aldon Baker and Marvin Musquin, are known to incorporate cycling into their training programs. With the introduction of Specialized Turbo e-bikes, in recent years we’ve been involved at all levels of the sport. Starting with our partnership with GNCC and the creation of the e-MTB National Championship, and now with Lucas Oil Pro Motocross, we’re bringing industry-leading e-bike technology to the powersports community”.

In addition to its activation at the races, Specialized will commemorate its support of American motocross by hosting the Specialized Industry Invitational eMTB Ride in conjunction with the upcoming GEICO Motorcycle High Point National, the third round of the 2021 season on June 19, from Pennsylvania’s High Point Raceway.

As part of the Father’s Day weekend festivities, both members of the motocross industry and the general public will be invited to celebrate the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new High Point Bicycle Park on Friday, June 18, the eve of the anticipated return of Pro Motocross to High Point. Four miles of groomed trails broken up into multiple segments awaits enthusiasts at the High Point Bicycle Park, aimed at challenging both intermediate and advanced riders.

“Specialized has built a tremendous reputation within the off-road landscape through its support of the GNCC Racing Series, so the opportunity to expand its reach and ingrain itself with the motocross community is something we’re incredibly excited about,” said MX Sports Pro Racing events director Tim Cotter in the announcement. “With the exceptional level of anticipation surrounding the return of Pro Motocross to High Point we sought to find a way to elevate the National even more, with a focus on the opportunity to engage directly with our passionate fanbase. The Invitational eMTB Ride is sure to be a popular addition to an already action-packed weekend and we can’t think of a better way to open the new High Point Bicycle Park.”

The 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will return to action with the GEICO Motorcycle High Point National on Saturday, June 19, for the third round of the season. Currently, Team Honda HRC riders Ken Roczen and Jett Lawrence sit atop the 450 Class and 250 Class point standings, respectively.
