Exclusive data: Retail parts results for May revealed

Exclusive data for Outdoor Power Equipment magazine readers from Constellation Data Solutions, a division of Constellation Dealership Group, shows Same Store Sales results in the parts department at outdoor power equipment dealerships for the month of May.

The composite data is pulled from dealerships that use Constellation’s Ideal and c-Systems DMS brands. The Same Store Sales data compares May 2020 vs. May 2019 at 1,164 independent servicing OPE dealerships.

On average, OPE dealers in the U.S. had a stellar month of parts sales in May 2020, with parts department revenues up 7 percent vs. May 2019. The Midwest was the big winner, with growth of 10 percent in parts, followed by the Northeast’s 9 percent growth. Dealers on average in the South were up 5 percent in parts during May, with dealers in the West seeing 1 percent growth in parts.

Here’s a breakdown of dealerships that had an increase or decrease in parts sales during May vs. May 2019.

West — 50 percent up; 50 percent down

Midwest — 58 percent up; 42 percent down

Northeast — 46 percent up; 54 percent down

South — 56 percent up; 44 percent down

U.S. — 54 percent up; 46 percent down
