Overall beer consumption continued to slide, with total volume decreasing 1.3% to 2.77 billion 2.25-gallon cases in 2018, according to the Beverage Information Group’s 2019 Beer Handbook. This marks the sixth consecutive year of declines in total beer consumption, as U.S. consumers seek out cocktails, spirits and wine. Craft beer growth continues to slow, but posted a 4.0% gain in 2018 to 322 million cases, boosting the category’s market share to 11.6%. But with so many craft, seasonal and local styles hitting shelves, consumers are overwhelmed with an excess of beer choices.

What seemed inevitable is now happening. Amazon has posted a new gin brand that is available exclusively through the online retail giant. Tovess Single Batch Crafted Dry Gin is an English spirit from “a distillery on the outskirts Birmingham, West Midlands,” according to its product description. Currently it is only available in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
